A Word from Ben Murphy
Honesty is a word people in my profession use as just one of the tools—I think it's much deeper than that. I believe it's how you live, how you conduct your business, professionally, and in your personal life.
For me, I want people to know every cost, every risk and reward, for every action that I may recommend and they may take. Full disclosure on everything that we do is paramount for the trust that is required between the client and the financial advisor. I will strive to meet those expectations.
I have always been good with numbers and have had an affinity for people, so this career has been a natural fit for me. I am so thankful that I am in business in this day and age. I have never been a corporate guy and the technology today allows me to maintain my independence while providing exceptional products and services. Once I have a thorough understanding of their needs, goals and objectives, my depth of resources allows me to give each of my clients a personalized experience.
I believe that honest, integrity and professionalism are the building blocks of a good financial practice. The trouble is everyone says that, so how do you know who to choose? I have chosen the small firm route. I have made the decision to be directly responsible to each and every one of my clients. You will talk to me when you call and you will get answers to your questions in a timely manner.
Being professional to me means being able to conduct financial business on your behalf, and using methods that are appropriate for your specific situation. To do that, different licenses are required and to that end, I am securities registered with FINRA, as well as licensed for life, accident and health, variable life, and annuities. I am also an Investment Advisor Representative with Securities America Advisors, Inc..
My career in financial services began with a job at Prudential™ Life Insurance Company. Selling life insurance and fixed annuities was a good start; however, with clients becoming more educated and sophisticated I realized that I needed more licensing and training to help them achieve their goals. Which lead me to obtain my Series 6 and 63. These licenses give me the ability to sell variable life and annuities, as well as mutual funds.
Through the years, I became a registered representative with Pruco Securities, and had remained with Prudential and Pruco for more than five years. Unfortunately, something was missing.
A Business Break
I decided to take a break from the business, and instead, managed two restaurants and two concession companies. Due to my passion for the business, I went back and began working for American Express Financial Services to renew my licenses and registrations. In addition, I wanted to expand the services that I offer so I decided to obtain the series 7 license, which allows my to buy and sell securities on behalf of my clients.
